EUROPEAN
SOCIAL FUND DEPARTMENT
The
European Social Fund Department is responsible for the development
of the district of Larnaca regarding the following sectors: social
policy, culture and education/training. The E.S.F. Department
cooperates and supports the shareholders of the Agency, other
organizations and groups of the district of Larnaca.
The
main objective of the E.S.F. Department is the absorption of structural
funds, especially of funds available by the European Social Fund,
in order to achieve the sustainable development of the district
of Larnaca in the social, cultural and educational sectors.
The activities of the European Social Fund Department are the
following:
- Providing of consulting and supporting services to the shareholders
of the Agency regarding the improvement and development of their
social, cultural and educational policy.
- Providing of consulting and supporting services to organized
groups, voluntary organizations, associations and citizens of
the district of Larnaca.
- Absorbing funds from the European Social Fund for the development
of the district of Larnaca in the social, cultural and educational
sectors.
- Formation, development and implementation of innovative welfare
structures, in order to cover the social needs of the district
of Larnaca.
- Promotion of the culture of the district of Larnaca (and Cyprus
in general) throughout the European Union.
- Implementation of training courses or seminars in order to improve
the level of education and knowledge of the population of the
district of Larnaca.
- Promotion of the cooperation between the Communities and the
Municipalities of the district of Larnaca in the sectors of social,
cultural and educational policy.
- Implementation of innovative training practices through which
better and much more efficient results would be achieved.
- Promotion of actions that aim at supporting the vulnerable groups
of the society or other groups which are in danger of social exclusion
in the district of Larnaca.
- Promotion of equal opportunities between men and women in the
labour market.
- Elaboration of research and of action plans in order to determine
the needs of the Agency’s shareholders in the fields of social,
cultural and educational policy.
