Larnaca District Development Agency takes part in Berlin Tourism Exposition
Larnaca District Development Agency takes part took part in the most important Tourist Expo in Europe, which took part in Berlin from 5 to 9 March 2014.
The Agency’s participation in the Expo constituted one of the actions of the Transnational Cooperation Project “Gastronomical wanderings and the culture of tastes- MedEat”, which falls under the Regional Program LEADER of the District of Larnaca and is co-funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Republic of Cyprus.
In the Project, in addition to Larnaca District Development Agency, there are partners from Greece, Italy and Portugal. The project concerns the establishment of demarcated and uniform geographical - cultural units, which will function as informal “parks” of local gastronomy and travel, offering comprehensive proposals for visits in designated places for catering and accommodation and for selected activities and events, having as the central axis the culinary culture of each region.
It’s worth mentioning that the MedEat stand received the second prize for Innovation in the relevant contest. The prize constitutes a huge success for those who took part, considering the size of the expo and the number of participants.
At the MedEat stand, visitors has the chance to wander around the gastronomical routes through printed material – maps, and especially electronically, through interactive applications. Special applications were designed in cooperation with the Institute of Technology and Research of Heraklion. These applications visualize the content of maps-guides through an interactive game which is based on the principle of “action and reaction” with the visitor.
It’s a fact that visitors left the MedEat stand having seen first-hand the cooperation among agencies from four Mediterranean countries and the magic of their gastronomical routes. They also expressed their desire to experience those routes in their travels.
